Micky Tello – the McFly scammer

In life there are two ways of earning money, one honourably and another one being allegedly, Miguel Tello.

This character could also be named as a scammer, impostor, thief, ruffian, cheater, usurper or hustler.

After contacting him, changing his version a thousand times and threatening to report us to the police, you’ll see there’s a word that I have to use: “allegedly”. A word that he doesn’t deserve but given the circumstances I have to use.

Miguel Tello is, allegedly, a special person, he makes a way of life out of scams and cheats, he doesn’t care if his victims are underage or teenagers, male or female, his greed exceeds words.

This person has lived a luxury life: he lived for about 3 years in the UK using money obtained from scams. After that he permitted himself several trips to Germany and France with the same money fraudulently taken, and he also permitted himself a period in LA, including a trip to Las Vegas to see Blink-182 live.

The reputation that he created himself has become known. We know that McFly’s manager is collecting evidence against him and he’s had some rows with Tom’s mum in Twitter. He even insulted Carrie, Tom’s little sister, saying that she was a little brat, because she posted on her MySpace that no one should trust Miguel. Neil also posted something like that and Miguel accused him of being a paedophile.

He tried to sneak in concerts saying that he was sleeping with an important music businessman and he called magazines pretending to be the band’s contact in Spain, so that they would give him exclusive things or news to earn the fans’ confidence.

He left the UK two years ago, because he was threatened with being sent to jail if he didn’t stop ripping people off. He left the country to come back to Spain out of fear. He stalked McFly and insulted every person that had anything to do with them, their families, girlfriends even other fans that didn’t trust him or warned the band about him.

We’re not going to talk about his sexual orientation, or his made up boyfriends. But we will talk about his life of trips paid for by his victims.

Let’s begin the story, completely, after more than 52 testimonials and lots of evidence. The first time we called the alleged scammer it was strange. He told us so many things that in the second call he denied. That surprised us.

This peculiar character has been scamming around Italy, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, France and the UK.

He’s currently 26 years old and he’s been doing this since he was around 21.

It all began with the Busted Spanish fan site, he was kind of the president so thanks to his high status in the page he began selling fake tickets to fake concerts, saying that they would do some concerts in Spain. But he kept all the money and none of the people that paid were able to go to any concerts.

Some of the scams are the ones I’m about to tell:

A Dougie’s Hurley shirt that never came, he owes Sara M. 300€ for a trip to London to see McFly in concert that she never received, same as Sandra P. 3 other people he owes more than 240€ , DVD’s for more than 30€ that never came. Like we read in many forums “We know Miguel Angel Tello, we paid him 240€ to go and see McFly in London, and until today he hasn’t returned the money and there were no concerts on those dates” or “it’s unfair that thanks to us you’re living for free in London and we can’t even see McFly in concert”

Again, notice how unimpressed Dougie is. Also you can see Tommy Jay Smith (McFly’s tour manager) taking the mick in the background.

One of the most common scams and the one that more people bought was the promises of Hotel, concert and meet McFly in person (people trusted him mostly because he had lots of pictures with the band) and he said that he worked for their record label promoting them in other countries.

Another story of Mr. Alleged Scammer: Micky organized a trip to see McFly at Wembley and Sandra contacted him at the “apparently” official Spanish fan club. Micky told her it’d be 300€, the plane ticket, the hotel, the concert ticket and meets and greet with McFly. This was in 2008 and Sandra was 18 years old, and she had no idea about anything that he had done previously, so as many others before, she trusted him. She affirms that Micky is a person that knows how to talk to convince you easily. He suggested that she didn’t go on the trip alone, so she told him that she’d go with her parents and brother, so now the price was 1200€. Then Micky, when Sandra gave him the money, told her that the hotel reservations were already done and that she’d get the plane tickets as soon as possible. But then he started ignoring her. After trying to contact Micky and hearing all the stuff people said about him, gave up and she went to Wembley by herself with some friends but with her own plane tickets and hotel, so she had to pay everything again.
After that concert Micky organized a McFly theme party in Madrid (which he paid with Sandra’s money), Sandra went with her mother, they talked to Micky and made clear to him that if they didn’t have the money back by the next day they would report him to the police. So he said that they didn’t have to worry, that they’d have the money back. The next day Micky disappeared.

Sandra kept her hopes high as her friend Vero lived with a police officer, and they were trying to push him to refund Sandra’s money.

In those days Micky Tello used to live in London, in a bed and breakfast for years that he paid with the money he stole and to date Micky still owes her 1200€.

OTHER CASES:

María Del Mar: “I fell for a “super offer” in which he offered me a lot of McFly products. We paid 40€ and he had to send us some singles, CDs, DVDs and magazines. I never got anything”

Gema: “I’m a McFly fan and he offered me a trip to Manchester for 2 people to go to a McFly gig in November 2008, it was 300€ for the both of us, my sister and me. He said that we’d stay at the Hilton (where McFly were going to stay according to him) it also included a train from London to Manchester, the plane, concert ticket and of course that we’d meet the band and have dinner with them if we got more people to sign up for it.

I was a fool, so I fell for it, but due to personal issues I couldn’t go. I’d already paid everything but a week before I had to go I still didn’t have the plane tickets and I received a cancelation from the hotel itself. He said there were some complications but that he already solved them.

So, as I was saying, I couldn’t go. He told me that he’d give me the money back, 2 months went by and nothing. So my dad called his parents, that live in Melilla (a little Spanish city in North Africa) and he told them everything. His mom said that it wasn’t the first time, and she thought that he already stopped doing this entire McFly thing. So Micky’s brother gave us the money (of course we had to show him all the bank receipts) When Micky found out that we talked to his parents he got really really angry with us and since then I know nothing about him.

Anais: “The truth is that it’s been 5 years since he ripped me off so I can’t remember everything (and we were like 14 or 15 years old and a friend and I paid everything together and she had the receipts and I haven’t talked to her in 2 years). What I remember is that he posted in Busted’s forum a 3 day trip offer, as always everything included, to see McFly in London for 60€ (now I don’t know how I could believe him but I was very innocent) and of course the trip wasn’t real and we didn’t get the money back. He also did several magazine promos, you gave him the money and you got 3 monthly British magazines. I just got 2 magazines in the first month and nothing after that. I know there’s something more but those are the most important.

Later, when people rose against him, he began to insult us and call us “jealous brats” and things like that. There was a time where out of rage I just wanted the world to know what kind of person he is. Some fans created a forum where to collect all the information everyone had about him, and the money he owed and organize ourselves to report him to the police (it was a forbidden topic in his McFly webpage) he managed to close our forum and he threatened to report us for slander. He never did it.

After threatening me in public and seeing that we got many people not to trust him anymore, he changed his strategy and he called me saying that “I’ve won a trip to see McFly in London” so that I’d tell everyone. Obviously I told him that I wasn’t interested, and since then I haven’t done much about it.

I’ve heard so much stuff about him, his life in London (possibly paid by our money) and his “jobs”- he said that he worked but he was always after McFly or any other famous people that made him look important- From what I’ve heard about a girl who denounced him, his parents had to pay the money that he stole, even asking for a load to pay those girls. But of course some of us haven’t seen anything.”

Miguel Tello´s words when he found out we were investigating about this:

“It seems that fate wanted me to have a document that arrived Friday morning. I’ll show you this document as evidence of the thousand lies that have been said against my person, and to prove to you that all of this comes from the hate of a few people.

It’s about a court ruling from a court in Mataró (Barcelona) there’s a person that has recently tried to denounce me, after giving her money back, saying that I was going to pay her a hotel, when that’s an absolute lie.

It’s been so that she hasn’t been able to prove anything, and therefore I’ve had a case for me, one more to the other ones I’ve had back in 2008…and obviously they were all for me.

As it says in the case, I haven’t gone to the trial, being a trial failure just by sending the evidence is enough. Well there you have a fair evidence of my innocence and how much hurt people are able to do. If that’s not hate may god come and see it.

I’m also sending you 5 receipts of payments I’ve been doing during these years as you’ve asked me….I’m sorry I don’t have scanner but you can see it’s mine

Lastly, look, during this time I’ve been running McFly’s Fan Club in Spain (by myself) I’ve been promoting the guys, doing parties, several activities, uploading exclusive news, doing contests, etc etc. All of this to thousands of fans and I’ve understood the reason of why they are angry, but I’ve tried to do my best at giving the money back. I don’t know what you’re talking about when you say you’re going to publish something, no one told me anything, Looking at your Face book page and web page I have an idea of what you’re up to, and if it’s that, I’m telling you to confirm your information before anything and Face book is not the best place to talk about this, even if you want to I can give you my cell number and call me and ask me anything about this.

The story that I think you’re talking about was something that happened a long time ago, and I still get credit for something I haven’t done, when I’ve never been sentenced, where there never has been able to prove anything that I’ve been accused for, I’ve never been called to a trial, and to date and since that era, I’ve tried to keep my responsibilities of the things that I did. Just let you know I’m innocent.

Now I’m a chilled person that’s trying to realize my life, I’m a business student, I’ve passed my first grade and I do what ever person of my age does. I’m completely away for the trouble I’ve been in, and in which there have been said lots of lies, thing that have never been able to prove or demonstrate. It’s just because “oh because many people say it and they have receipts well its true” and it’s not like that. I’ve never taken anything from anyone and that’s what I know is true and has been proved for now.

That’s why I tell you that before publishing anything think of the hurt you can do to people even when it hasn’t been proved on a trial. If you need my phone I’ll give it to you, it just an advice”

Mr. Alleged Scammer sent us more emails, we’ll copy them quoting:

“About all your fake evidence, lies and more, the only thing you have proved me is that you know a lot about civil law, but you haven’t proved anything that you said for now, and as I consider and think that you won’t, and if you do are fake evidence I’m telling you.

The message above is in reply to our email, telling the alleged scammer about the testimonials we have from his victims. He said that we didn’t have any evidence and that there was no such thing. Well here you have them, and there’s still more that we can’t reveal for now but in the second part of the article, alleged scammer, we’ll tell them.

Here’s another message from Micky Tello, threatening us:

“Well go on, publish it. The only thing that I have to tell you is that my family, my lawyer and I are going to wait for the publishing of this article and we’re going to take the legal measures against you, it’s not a threat, they’re things that are going to be done. Apart from other stuff that’s going to happen to clear certain topics.

Don’t worry you’ll have news about me this week, to verify that what I’m telling you is true. I’m having legal advice and I’m taking all the possibilities I have in my hand to defend myself and that takes a bit of time.

You’ll receive this notification soon, it’s just that it took me on a weekend and it’s obvious that I can’t give you all the evidences that you want so badly to show it to you.

They’re going to try to figure out a lot of things, my conscience is very chill that a lot of things you’re saying are fake, and I want to get to the bottom to show my innocence, and they’re fake and obviously there’s going to be a judge the one who determinates who’s the one who’s right and who’s lying.

“And this whole thing about the restraining order is a lie, to have a restraining order there has to be a warrant and there has never been such thing.

That’s why I’m telling you, there’s no legal document that says I have a restraining order, there are no legal evidences that says that I’m a swindler, there are just complains about a few people that want to move a story that already happened and I’ve always tried to help people the best I could.

The only thing that people can blame me for is that I’ve gone to LA with my parent’s help? Well I don’t know what else to say to you but I’m tired of all of this.

I think it’s great that you’re taking this as a threat when it is not really that. I have my right to defend myself. I’m just telling you that if lies of my person are being published, this that can’t ever be proved (because the only thing you have is 15 girls from 14-15 years that are unhappy and the only thing they have is evidence that they have given me money) Do you have any kind of evidence that proofs that I’ve kept their money? No you don’t have it and you won’t BECAUSE THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY SWINDLER… it’s just your word against mine.

There have been lots of girls who have been happy with the service I’ve provided with the fan club. Look let’s do something , if you want to I can give you a list of 15 fans to contrast opinions, that are SUPER HAPPY WITH ME in the fan club and we can forget about this ok? But don’t get my friends in all of this because they’re the most sacred thing for me.

There’s no evidence to prove the thing that you’re saying, I’m just saying that if you need anything from me, anything to prove I’m innocent, it doesn’t bother me because I have nothing to fear, but don’t get people in front of this. THE STORY IS WAY PASSED.

And believe me, I have one of the best lawyers in Spain, if you want to do it the bad way, we can denounce the web page BUT IT’S SOMETHING I DON’T WANT TO GET TO DO. You just need to understand and this topic hurts me because I’m innocent and I’ve never RIPPED OFF ANYONE, Just that.”

“Micky has started a new promotion where he’s saying an English boy band will play a private and exclusive concert for his website and this will be held in Zaragoza, in April 2006!! Tickets, of course, being a private event are being sold and the money for them (he’s charging 15€ for each one) have to be put into his bank account. The tickets are sold out!! In my investigation, I came across a 14 year old girl’s msn; I added her, she had on her MSN name something about going to meet McFly in Zaragoza and she even had a countdown of the days left until the event. I pretended to be interested in the promotion so I could find out how did she get her tickets, how much she paid, etc. She told me all her friends were going too and they all had paid the 15€, the thing is they all were from Zaragoza anyway! So I started panicking thinking he might have invented a private concert in every city so he can scam fans from everywhere in Spain. I’m even scared to think this could be happening for real…

I tried to tell this girl, in a gentle way that McFly would never be in her city, but she said she trusted Micky because he seemed really nice. All of the sudden lots of girl with similar MSN screen names started adding me (they all said they were going to meet McFly!!). I asked the girl and she said they were her friends and they wanted to speak to me!! I panicked and I deleted them all…

If they have already fallen in Micky’s trap I rather let them discover it by themselves and if this time they have lost 15€, it will help them to not loose a 100 next time…

There’s rumours going around about Micky’s possible future promotions; such as trips to the Grammy’s, MTV and different events in the USA, so imagine how much money is he going to ask for!!”

I don’t know if that thing with the 14 fans going to see BSB in London went well for real… but maybe it happened because he could get to scam them later on with a bigger offer, such as the LA and NY ones??

Spends his days contacting girls through MSN Messenger and with a very convincing speech he offers trips to see music bands like McFly. This person contacted our daughter via MSN. As expected it was very urgent to make a bank transfer to him to book the spaces for a trip to London to see McFly in concert, we suppose so we didn’t have much time to think about it slowly. We, even with our doubts, agreed to the girls delight and we booked for us and 4 of the girl’s friends. In total, 720€ that we paid via urgent bank transfer. When the date of the trip was close we got an email saying it would be delayed to June. We preferred a refund, but that never happened.

We have spoken over the phone and via email. He said that he transferred our money back on three different occasions, which is a lie as we never received any money. The first transfer, he told us, the fan club made from London, the second one his mum from Melilla and third one him from LA.
In the last messages he insulted us and said we were crazy, saying that we had received the money. He blocked us from his website www.mcflyviparea.net and he doesn’t reply to any messages. We have reported the situation to the police and to Microsoft Messenger, who will also report it to the appropriate authorities.

“You should never give your opinion on a subject before knowing both sides of the story, I find it really funny how people try to resuscitate something that’s more than dead only because my name appears on Google and there’s a direct link to a topic from a few years ago that I asked to be removed, but they haven’t been able to do it. Besides that was something that got solved INSTANTLY as it was only a misunderstanding and I ran to solve it with that person in private.

I’ve ran the McFly fan club for 2 years, a fan club that I’m going to give up in the next few weeks due to work reasons, but during this time I’ve organised lots of activities that can be seen in the Fan Club forum as they are reflected on www.mcflyviparea.net. This activities are three promotional events in Madrid, and one in Barcelona, these events have been promoted by different media in our country. Besides we have organised trips to London successfully, where all of them get reflected via pictures and comments of the people in the forum., and most of all you can see how in every moment there’s comments done by me, informing the members about the Club’s activities.

Basically, what happened to this person was, that she was interested in coming to one of our trips, before doing any kind of arrangements, we explained a series of rules, which this person accepted over the phone, all before making any arrangements, I repeat.

The trip for which she had agreed, it was a trip that was going to be done in February, this trip didn’t happen because the band McFly had prolonged their stay in Australia (where they recorded their new album), so the trip was postponed till April, and finally, that’s when it will happen, as we’re doing this trip next week. This person was asked if she wanted to change the date but for personal reasons, this person didn’t accept the change, meaning she didn’t want to go.

That same week I published in the McFly Fan Club, a message where I informed I was leaving for America for a while (exactly one month) for something related to my job, and I said if there was someone that needed to tell me something, to obviously tell me, as during my stay in America I wasn’t going to do any McFly related stuff.

All the members of the Fan Club, respected during my stay in America, and they didn’t ask me any questions related to future activities, all of them, but this person, that sent me death threats, to me and to my family, obviously this threats are being taken care of my lawyers, as I have reported this and it’s been successful.

After this threats, it’s true that I have 0 contact with this person, this person has tried to contact me, but I have denied any contact, more than anything cause it’s been a family advice, next week we will go on that trip and after it, all pending transactions with any members of the Fan Club will be cancelled for good.

Its also very shocking how this person is trying to publish some information about McFly in a place that has nothing to do with the band, such as Spice Heart forum, I don’t know if you are reading this right now, but I let me tell you I find very funny what you’re doing and I’m not scare of you at all.

He claimed to have a T-Shirt business with someone we know, and that’s completely untrue, he also said that another person’s ex-boyfriend threatened him, and it was a lie, he also claims to own guitars and other instruments from the bands he “promotes” and that’s not true either…

But this man doesn’t finish here, he doesn’t have enough with Spain, he’s crossed the frontiers and he’s been able to rip off in many different countries, such as Germany, UK, Italy, and Portugal and even across the sea in Brazil.

This cheat didn’t only use McFly and Busted. He also scammed with Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Sugababes, Rachel Stevens, Girls Aloud, Westlife, Pussycat Dolls, etc.

But we can gather that he doesn’t like working, we have recently found out that he’s scamming again and organising competitions, earning people’s trust through Twitter and then he’ll be able to do the same as usual. Once he’s earned the trust he’ll trick and cheat again. This guy never gets tired, even knowing that everyone is aware of his comeback. It’s not just that he is not willing to change, but he’s also lost some of his friends because of not being able to stop in time.
